Christmas Card Gift Labels {Upcycled Christmas Card Project #2}

As  I mentioned yesterday…

I L-O-V-E Christmas cards.

I love receiving them and I love sending them.  They make me smile, bring excitement to the kiddos, and are one of the few times I receive anything fun in the mail outside of magazines and birthday cards:)

I keep them every year and then look at them again when putting up decorations the following year.  In the past  they’ve been recycled at that point but this year I decided to challenge myself…

How many ways can I use old Christmas cards?

Yesterday I showed you Project #1: Framing the select beauties!!

Today?  Re-purposing old cards as gift labels.  This is NOT my idea.  In fact both my mother-in-law and a good family friend have done this for years.  So, really I’m just sharing their creative idea with some of my own twists:)

Upcycled Christmas Card Project #2 : Gift Labels

Christmas Cards as Gift Labels

Again, pretty straight forward:

  1. Decide on areas that would make good labels.  Don’t limit yourself to the front of the card – the back and inside of cards sometimes have good options
  2. Cut them to the size you need (or use the WHOLE card even).
  3. Add text as desired (To/From, Merry Christmas, etc.).

For the gift bag tag I added some scrap paper I had on hand to the back as the card had writing on it.  While I don’t mind people knowing something is upcycled that seemed “over-the-top” to me.

Upcycled Christmas Card Project #3 should be here later tonight – although 2 of 3 kiddos are sick with the yucks today so who knows.  On the plus side, they are super cuddly, taking longer than usual naps, and Miss Silly was “rescued” by next-door-grandpa for some out-of-the-house-of-sickness time.

Only 7 sleeps until Christmas!!

Blue Skies and Blessings,

Lindsey
